Characteristics
Mushroom Popcorn is unique because it pops into a circular or mushroom shape as opposed to the more common butterfly shape and is larger and crunchier than our other varieties. Mushroom popcorn is perfect for fun recipes like caramel corn and pairs well with our spices and glazes. It pops in a mushroom shape because of its unique design. As the moisture inside the kernel turns into steam during the popping process, the hull of the mushroom popcorn stays intact, causing the kernel to expand out of one side into a round mushroom shape.

Compared to Other Popcorn
This popcorn is not hulless like our Baby WhiteMedium White, and Ladyfinger varieties. It does not have as much flavor as its counterparts, but it is perfect for coatings, glazes, or seasonings.

Popping Tips
To achieve its recognizable shape, Mushroom Popcorn should be popped at a higher temperature, but can be popped using traditional popping methods. This creates more mushroom-shaped kernels and leaves less un-popped corn.

Nana's Kettle Corn Kitchen loves Mushroom Corn

Posted by Stan Rogers on May 12th 2025

Nana's Kettle Corn Kitchen has been operating for 20 years and was using ACT II from Gordon Foods and has been very good no complaints. We are a family owned business too and my sister kept telling my Dad about Mushroom corn and how good it was. My Father did not like to spend more than what was needed and he said no. I took over in 2018 and did well until COVID and we shut it down until last year. Again my Sister with the Mushroom Corn, alright I'll try it. Looked all over and found what I was looking for in Amish Country Mushroom Corn. It has been a game changer and just wanted to say Thank You for the quality. Getting ready to place order and decided to review and let you know you are appreciated.

    Large and crunchy!

Posted by Eric on Oct 6th 2024

This popcorn gives a very large rounded pop that is extra crunchy and tends to last longer than some of the other varieties. Definitely my favorite type of kernel that I've tried.

    Excessive Hulls

Posted by Cynthia on Jul 12th 2024

I really enjoy the larger kennels which is why I’ve always purchase the mushroom kennel. However, the excessive hulls cost me $100 at the dentist for a deep cleaning to have hulls removed from my gums. Unfortunately, I won’t be purchasing again.

    Converted a lifelong popcorn hater!

Posted by Claire on Mar 23rd 2024

Our son has always (& crazily!) hated popcorn for years. This was the first type he’s liked and it got him interested in trying others like extra-large caramel & medium yellow. Its fluffy & low on hulls, highly recommend!

    Excess hulls

Not sure what device is being used by the 5 star ratings. Popcorn is good but the excess hulls are terrible.
