Some popcorn varieties are better suited for certain recipes than others. Below are just a few ideas of how you can use this type of popcorn to create a unique treat.
The popcorn itself is good but I couldn't get past all the hulls.
We eat popcorn a few times a week and for the past several years we've been using only mushroom popcorn from Amish Country Popcorn. You won't ever want to go back to regular varieties. This popcorn in a Whirly Pop with coconut oil is perfection -- no unpopped seeds and a full, substantial popped kernel. Amazing!
TLDR: Grandiose Mushroom kernels: airy, oversized spheres redefine popcorn sophistication – 8.5/10 Gourmet Endeavors: In the quest for popcorn perfection, I ventured beyond the ordinary and embraced a blend with kernels notably grand in size. This divergence from the dainty Ladyfinger variety sparked curiosity about the potential transformation that awaited the oversized kernels upon popping. Prepared with ACP's “Popcorn Coconut Oil”, adorned with a glazing of ACP's “Buttery Topping” and a dash of “Cheesy Dill” by Kernels. The Zenith: The resulting popcorn spectacle was nothing short of extraordinary—a symphony of voluminous, spherical kernels that reached unparalleled dimensions upon popping. In stark contrast to the delicate Ladyfinger kernels, these grand orbs possessed an airy lightness that seemed almost paradoxical given their size. The sheer magnitude of each popped kernel was a visual spectacle, evoking a sense of awe in anticipation of the culinary journey that lay ahead. Texture and Flavour Extravaganza: As the oversized kernels unfurled into expansive spheres, a texture and flavor extravaganza unfolded. Each bite yielded an airy crunch, a delightful departure from the petite elegance of its’ Ladyfinger counterparts. The absence of density in these grand kernels allowed for an ethereal, almost weightless experience, as if savoring clouds of popcorn perfection. The flavor, while mirroring the essence of Standard popcorn, was imbued with a distinct lightness that added a new dimension to the palate. Contrasts in Culinary Harmony: The contrast between the dainty Ladyfinger and the Mushroom kernels was a culinary symphony in itself. Where the former embraced subtlety and delicacy, the latter embarked on a grandiose journey, transcending size expectations while preserving an airy grace. Much like a duet on the culinary stage, the Mushroom kernels delivered a performance that celebrated the beauty of contrast, leaving an indelible mark on the palate and the senses. Notably, the Ladyfinger kernels with their petite nature, presented a counterpoint marked by an intensified crunch, compared to the unique grandeur of the Mushroom kernels offering a slightly less crunchy and more chewy disposition. Conclusion: This popcorn escapade with oversized Mushroom kernels is nothing short of a culinary marvel. The grandeur of the popped kernels, with their airy lightness and expansive size, offers a sensory experience that is both delightful and unexpected. A divergence from the dainty, this blend is a testament to the diverse wonders that popcorn can unveil when daring to venture beyond the conventional.
I have purchased the variety box a few times and love all of them. Our favorites are the mushroom popcorn the flavor and texture and the purple for flavor.
I love that this pops so big, taste great, the majority of it pops but I have so many hulls in the bottom of the popper and my bowl. I am using an electric popper and see in other reviews I show try my air popper, I will see if I get better results.
I bought a variety of kernels here at Amish County and I would proudly say this is my all time favorite popcorn now. This taste is similar to Orville Red.'s tender white. The kernels when popped are about double the size of a standard/traditional popcorn, which holds favoring better. Though, I didn't use heavy seasoning, I think a buttery flavor comes through. I just added the ballpark salt (sold here) and mixed veg. oil to pop. I then mixed very little topping oil to the popcorn. I highly recommend this product, I have since ordered 3 bottles of the mushroom kernels.
To start with, Amish Mushroom Popcorn is the best I've ever eaten. I've been eating popcorn for 65 years. I was excited to learn I could buy Mushroom popcorn . I really enjoyed it. Then my hot air popper pooped out. Well now with my new hot air popper, the quality, size and almost every kernel pops....I'm in seventh heaven. I only wish I could have discovered Mushroom popcorn decades ago. Thank you so much !
We love this popcorn - now that we pulled out the air popper. Virtually every kernel popped and the majority were ball shaped. The texture it terrific. We had been popping it in a pan with oil. With the pan method, we were not so happy with the results. If your having problems with this type, try a different popping method!
