October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month

Oct 17th 2022

Great news, everyone, it’s the most magical month of the year: October!

Here at Amish Country Popcorn, we’re thrilled that it’s National Popcorn Poppin’ Month once again. There’s so much to celebrate when it comes to this irresistible snack!

Not only is popcorn America’s favorite snack food, but it’s also one of the country’s oldest snacks! Dating back to as early as the 16th century, popcorn was often an important part in Aztec Indian ceremonies.

In more recent history, Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman proclaimed October as National Popcorn Poppin’ Month in 1999, and we’ve been celebrating it ever since!

Whether you enjoy your popcorn cooked on the stove, popped in the microwave, or a ready-to-eat variety, there are more than 14 billion quarts of popcorn consumed each year! Can you believe it? It’s not surprising once you consider the merits of popcorn as as snack. Not only is it dairy and gluten-free, but it’s also naturally low in fat and calories, sugar-free, vegan, and non-GMO! Talk about a perfect snack!

With nearly limitless ways to enjoy it, it’s easy to celebrate National Popcorn Poppin’ Month all October long! Whether you prefer sweet, savory, buttery, or plain, there’s no wrong way(or day!) to enjoy this beloved treat.
