We've had one before that we loved but this one is awful! The top comes apart as soon as I dump the popcorn out!
I am so happy I bought this popper! I had tried microwave silicone poppers, paper bags, and pots on the stovetop, but results would always vary and I had a lot of burnt popcorn. I have used this popper four times with different varieties of popcorn, and made kettle corn, with 100% success! I don’t see myself going back to microwave popcorn ever again as long as I have my Whirley Pop!
I have one of these. I love it. Easy to use. Pops every kernel, and never burns
1/2 cup popcorn, some oil ,(still looking for best oil). Turn up heat turn handle and pop away. Pops. Excellent. Getting from popper to bowl is a challenge. I need to use a towel to insure lids stays on popper, lid comes off and popcorn all over. If everything works correctly great popcorn, if not lots of scattered popcorn. This is my second and same issue with both. This is our go to popcorn way, microwave kernals good but dry, old fashion pan on burner messy. This works well, got to YouTube to find safe way to get from popper to mouth.
I’m about to buy my 3rd, not that they didn’t last. I’ve given the other 2 to close family that wanted one too! We make kettle corn, with olive oil, sea salt and 1/4 c sugar for a full batch, stir constantly, only takes a few minutes. We typically make 2 full batches for 4 people and a movie, and always finish it. Clean up isn’t bad, the sugar discolors the interior but doesn’t hurt the product, and you know exactly what ingredients went in. Been making this stuff for 10 years now. Highly recommend it. - put sugar in after several pops, turn heat to medium low and toss sugar in quickly. It can splatter so you might want a glove to toss in the sugar. Otherwise it’s super easy and the best popcorn ever.
After 25 years or so, I'm reaching the end of the life of my second Whirley Pop. I will buy another one without hesitation when the time comes. Mind you, I make popcorn several times a week, so for a "normal" user, one of these should last the better part of a lifetime. No wasted kernels or old maids, this popper does the job and does it great.
