Pepper popcorn

How to Pop Popcorn

On the Stove:

3 Tablespoons of cooking oil (Any cooking oil, such as canola, coconut or olive oil may be used)
1/2 cup (4oz) of Amish Country Popcorn 
1 Stovetop Popper or Large Sauce Pan (with lid)
1 Large Serving Bowl

Preheat oil on high heat in the bottom of popcorn popper for approximately 1 minute. Add a few kernels to popper. Once they pop, add the remainder of the kernels and cover. Lower heat slightly. Agitate popper until the popcorn ceases to pop. Pour popcorn into serving bowl. Salt to taste.

In the Microwave:

1 Microwave Popcorn Bowl
3 Tablespoons oil (canola oil, coconut oil, peanut oil or olive oil may be used) **optional**
1/2 cup (4oz) of Amish Country Popcorn

Place 1/2 cup (4oz.) of Amish Country Popcorn  into the bottom of the bowl. Add 3 tablespoon of oil to popcorn (optional). Put the lid on the popper and place it into the microwave. Cook on high for 2 - 3 minutes. Cooking times will vary depending on the microwave. When popping slows to 1 or 2 seconds between pops, cooking is complete. Do not overcook, as the popcorn will burn. Remove popper from microwave. Season popcorn to taste with Amish Country Ballpark Style Popcorn Salt or your favorite Amish Country Popcorn seasoning. Note: Bowl will be hot!

In Silicone Popper

1. Expand to full size before using

2. There are two measurement lines in bottom of popper. For a full bowl of popcorn, pour kernels to outer line. For a half bowl of popcorn, pour kernels to inner line. Do not fill kernels above outer line. 

2b. (Optional) You may add 1 - 2 teaspoons of oil to kernels. Shake evenly to coat.

3. Gently place lid down inside bowl where bowl begins to narrow. It will rise during the popping process. 

4. Cook on HIGH heat for 2 - 5 minutes until popping slows to 2 - 3 seconds between pops. We do not recommend using the "Popcorn" preset button on your microwave. 

5. Remove bowl from microwave by holding the handles. If too hot to the touch, use oven mitts.

6. Carefully remove lid from bowl. Add desired toppings or seasonings. 

7. If you experience burnt popcorn, try to reduce the power setting or put the popper off-center in the microwave. 

In an Air Popper:

Most of our popcorn will pop up very well in an air popper. Any of the following varieties will work well:

Medium White
Medium Yellow
Rainbow
Extra Large
Mushroom
Blue
Purple
Red

ATTN: Our Ladyfinger, Baby White, and Baby Yellow varieties have been known to simply blow through the fan and cause issues with certain brands of air poppers, please see below for a great popping tip to solve this problem!

Pro Air Popping Tip: The best method we’ve learned for preventing popcorn kernels from blowing through the fan is using an oven mitt to cover the popping chamber. Once the kernels start to pop, there will be enough popped kernels to hold down the other un-popped kernels in the chamber so they don’t fly out.
